Nature as a language: where WENLIH's shapes come from

At WENLIH, nature is not a motif printed on a bag. It is the grammar with which we design. Here is how it translates, concretely, into shapes and colours.

The shapes: a flower, a stem

The Datura comes from a flower. Its open corolla gave the curved flap that covers a straight, box-shaped structure. The magnetic closure, at the centre of the flap, recalls the heart of the flower.

The Vrille comes from a stem. The tendril is that filament by which a plant climbs and clings; it expresses a force in motion, turned towards the unknown. It became the handle of the bag, set on a trapezoidal volume and an inverted triangular flap.

In both cases, the plant line is reduced to the essential: a minimal stroke, not an illustration.

The colours: names that say where they come from

Our colours are named after what they evoke:

  • Tilleul, Cyprès: trees.
  • Rose Persan, Mimosa, Lavande Grisée: flowers.
  • Ciel St Rémy, Noir Nuit, Brume Blanche, Ombre Grise, Jaune Lunaire: the sky, the night, the light.
  • Parchemin, Grège: natural, undyed materials.

The interiors are chosen to create a contrast or an echo with the exterior — a block of colour you discover on opening, which builds a perceptible space.

The materials: touch as emotion

Two leathers answer each other in every bag: natural-grain goat on the outside, softer lambskin on the inside. This dialogue of textures awakens the sense of touch.

The rhythm: simple, precise, seasonal

Our structures are simple and precise, like the succession of seasons. We prefer a right shape to a decorated one.

What this does to the bag

A WENLIH bag does not impose a style. It offers a space where joy can be carried and where inner strength grows, gently. This is what we call a bag as a place.
